About us

Mango Steve

Founder Steve Kaczor fell in love with Latin America working as a marketing consultant to mango growers for eleven years. "I began to develop my network of contacts while working as a consultant hosting corporate produce buyers sourcing tropical fruit in Mexico , Central and South America. This 'past life' is where I got the nickname, 'Mango Steve'."

After co-founding an investment firm with partner Michelle in the Pacific NW, Steve found that he missed the region. The solution...  Changes in Latitude was born! Now Steve, Michelle & their friends share the region they love with others.

When not helping clients with their changes in latitude, Steve can be found writing or consulting for International Market Resources. Michelle is a licensed massage therapist, yoga teacher, and Reiki master.

Our guides possess detailed expert knowledge of our tour destinations. We have traveled to our destinations exploring both tourist meccas and back roads through the countryside. Travel, at its best, is life-changing. We hold a deep respect for cultures we visit and for the opportunities our destinations provide for pleasure and personal development. We maintain relationships with locals in most destinations and call on them often. You may choose to have one of our staff with you throughout your journey, or to use our guidance and local contacts to build a more self-directed itinerary.  We love to share our passion for travel and exploration with others who will become fascinated with Latin America.

We make extensive use of local guides and work to personalize each journey for your family or group. We favor unique high

Our Carbon Karma

Travel is good for the soul and for humanity, but it is hard on our ecology and the environment. Airline travel creates a significant proportion of the world’s global warming pollution, and it’s growing faster than any other single source. Flying roundtrip from Seattle to C. America (7,000 miles) creates over one ton of carbon dioxide emissions, per passenger.

Changes In Latitude partners with TerraPass to help balance this equation. Our organization purchases greenhouse gas reduction offsets in the form of one Intercontinental TerraPass per client, which covers per passenger emissions from 20,000 miles of jet travel. TerraPass works by funding clean energy and greenhouse gas reduction projects throughout the U.S., including wind farms and biomass energy. TerraPass is independently audited by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions, the leading certification agency in the renewable energy market.

If you would like to make an even greater impact, purchase a TerraPass to balance out the global warming impact of your driving and home energy use, or make a donation to Trees for the Future, winner of the United Nation’s Earth Trusteeship Award. Trees for the Future plants trees in the humid tropics. Each tree absorbs one ton of carbon dioxide over its average lifetime of 40 years. Reforestation is part of the solution.

Keep the tropics tropical!
