Rio de Janeiro

We will rendezvous at "the drop-dead-sexiest neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, Santa Teresa, a hotbed of restaurants, bars and samba." - New York Magazine

Then, we'll get catch the Bossa Nova spirit by visiting the cafe on Rua Montenegro where Antonio Carlos Jobim first saw the Girl from Ipanema and penned the classic song of longing. In Brazil, that intense longing immortalized in song by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto is called Que saudade!

Itamonte

After Rio, we'll arrive in Itamonte

Minas Gerais

The world’s soccer hero, Pele, is from Minas Gerais, our 2nd destination, Brazil’s rural heartland, home of historic coffee plantations, mining villages, and romantic countryside hideaways. Here we visit the charming village of Olimpio Noronha where we'll enjoy birding before breakfast.

Then on to Tiradentes and Ouro Preto, where we'll tour historic coffee plantations which are members of two cooperatives. COCARIVE (Cooperativa Regional dos Cafeicultores do Vale do Rio Verde) and MINASUL (Cooperativa dos Cafeicultores da Zona de Varginha).

Tiradentes

Stroll Tiradentes' cobblestone streets.

We will lunch in Tiradentes at Tempero da Angela with ample time to stroll the cobblestone streets, and we'll explore seemingly endless wonders in Ouro Preto, a colonial gold mining town located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains and designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its Baroque architecture.

Ouro Preto

Explore Ouro Preto's endless wonders.

Floripa

Nobody returns from Brazil without a bit of a tan, so our final journey is to beaches that are the favorites of Brazilians, found on the island of Floripa. We'll unwind in nature at an outstanding eco-lodge.

Here we enjoy carefree sun-soaked days walking beaches with stunning beauty. This island embodies the spirit of Brazil, a perfect complement to its dynamic economy, its diverse culture united in warmth, sincerity, and simpático.

After exploring Florianapolis, we'll share a special farewell dinner, after which you may choose to end your journey, or extend your explorations.
