Kayak through barely visited islands

Bocas Del Toro Archipelago
Staying in Bocas Town

Our journey to this bohemian Carribbean hideaway allows us to really slow down.  We’ll kayak through barely visited islands in a marine national park, snorkel near coral reefs, look for dolphins & frogs, nap in hammocks, and enjoy happy hours with the locals.

Panama: Experience the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the 50 miles in between.

In Panama you can have breakfast on the Caribbean and dinner on the Pacific.  In between lie highlands where the world’s best coffees are grown.

Enjoy a cup of fresh roast from the patio overlooking the plantation where the beans in your cup were harvested yesterday.

Chiriqui Highlands
Staying in Boquete

This cloud forest paradise straddles the Costa Rican border in the Talamanca mountain range, over 2 miles high.  We’ll go birding (looking for quetzal) in an international park, visit coffee plantations, and, for the adventurous, ride zip lines through the rainforest canopy.  All day trips are optional, and options include golfing or simply relaxing in one of Panama’s most charming towns.

Azuero, Panama’s heartland
Staying in Chitre

This peninsula is home to immaculate colonial towns and amazing artisans.

We’ll visit local homes to watch artisans weave hats, make masks, fire pottery in ancient designs, and embroider pollera (Panama’s beautiful national dress, which takes months to complete). We’ll visit sea turtles on Isla Canas and snorkel and fish off deserted beaches.

This special tour is for coffee aficionados. It includes visits to Finca Lerida, Casa Ruiz, Cafe Kotowa & El Santuario plantations. You'll visit hot springs, botanical gardens, and the summit of C. America, Volcán Barú - a vantage point with views of both the Pacific and Caribbean oceans.

Panama City
Staying at Plaza Paitilla

Panama travel begins and ends
in cosmopolitan Panama City, crossroads of the world. Here we’ll rest from the long journey, and visit the world renowned canal which is currently being expanded.

Panama City at Night

Our favorite excursion out of Panama City is the ferry to Isla Taboga. You enjoy a special view of the city from the water, just like ships entering the canal. In one hour you enter another world with the feel of a Mediterranean fishing village. The island is charming and inviting, a trip back in time. Relax at Cerrito Tropical for a stress-free contrast to the city.

Casco Viejo & the ruins
of Panama la Vieja

Staying at Plaza Paitilla

We conclude our stay in Panama City visiting Casco Viejo’s museums, churches, cafés and shops.  This is the old town built in the 16th Century to replace the older town burned in pirate raids, which ruins we’ll examine along with the history of the city. On our last night together we’ll take in a show.  In the morning, your guide will deliver you to the airport!

This dynamic little country offers more variety over very short distances than any in the world. Panama is one of the best kept secrets in Latin America.
